ELC eNewsletter – August 2024 Edition
Our August Announcement
This August has been a time of energetic reflection for us, as we launched a series of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) initiatives as part of our school culture and English language programs. These efforts are designed to inspire a sense of purpose among students and teachers, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainability. Through planned modular SDG activities, we hope to enrich our students’ English learning experiences and broaden their perspectives of how our actions today can impact the future.
Making a difference, one step at a time
To start, we’ve been engaging in meaningful planning with our collaborators and partner NGO organizations to strengthen our collective commitment with programs that will be most effective and efficient for our students and staff. Some of these programs are:
- Understanding refugee challenges: Encouraging effective ways to support refugees through volunteering and thoughtful contributions.
- Exploring the Malaysian rainforest and learning about environmental impact: Meeting with Malaysian indigenous communities and considering about environmental issues.
- Recycling adoption: Seeing how plastic pollution is tackled with 3-in-1 recycling machines converting ocean-bound plastic into reusable products.
- Practicing zero-waste management: Studying sustainable agriculture through the example of pineapple cultivation, maximizing every part of a crop from planting to harvest.
Our goal of each activity is to motivate and empower our students with an SDG mindset, sowing seeds of knowledge for a better sustainable future.
Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals
can be done in many simple, everyday ways. Here are the 17 goals of SDG that we could support.
By making these small changes in your daily life, you’re contributing to a better, more sustainable future for everyone.
