Why choose OET ?
By taking the OET, an English test for doctors and nurses, or ten other medical disciplines, you can prove that you have the right level of English for employment in an English-speaking medical setting.
Additionally, in preparing for the test, you will enhance the lifelong clinical communication skills you need for a more successful medical career.
That's not all -
Healthcare professionals choose the OET because:
- OET features realistic and familiar healthcare scenarios, so you'll feel more at home on test day.
- OET is widely recognised by a growing number of countries worldwide, as proof of English proficiency for registration, study and work in the healthcare sector. It can also help you to obtain visas for some countries.
IELTS vs OET
IELTS and OET are not rival examinations. They are both prestige tests which share a number of similar features. For example, both test four separate language elements, Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Both may be cited as necessary qualifications by a number of bodies internationally. However, unlike IELTS, which covers a very broad spectrum of topics, the OET is totally framed in the context of the work medical professionals do daily, thus OET preparation can have the advantage of building on, and contributing directly and immediately to, a candidate's professional development.
